That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar, somebody should've told them I'm a f-----g rock star

OMFGGG KANYE IN SINGAPORE!! *dies*

*runs around the house screaming*
me: "Ashwin, KANYE WEST IS COMING TO SINGAPOREEEE!" *in progressively higher pitched voice"
ash: -__-

as you can see from the official poster, technically the openers are supposed to be rihanna, N.E.R.D ("all the girls standing in the line for the bathroom") and lupe fiasco. kanye> NERD> lupe in that order, for me at least. rihanna is mehh. but judging by the ticket prices i think its just gonna be Kanye. WHICH IS FINE BY ME YA'LL!

from the tonnes of reviews, it's the slickest production of a hip hop live act there is. the slickest i've seen (on youtube :P) was the revolutionary jay-z at glasto, complete with a full live band, emcees, mad visuals on the backdrop and beyonce in the wings. haha..but for Glow in the Dark i expect that he'll bring the all-female full string section, the dancers painted in gold and a massive spaceship/ Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey-esque set. (well he'd better!)

For a better perspective of the performer that is Kanye, a medley of diamonds are forever, gold digger and my absolute favourite song by him (hence it being elevated to main ringtone status), Touch The Sky. i am literally identified by my ringtone HAHA.

it's at the kanye gig that i'll be able to put the rocafella diamond up for real...FINALLY.

we rocafella.

put em up ya'll.

no i'm not a poser- i'm just too cool for you.

it's uncanny lah, i dunno who i was talking to about it recently but i mentioned that it would be insane if Kanye played here. lo and behold he'll be here in september *thanks god*

we were talking about who we'd wanna see live in concert/at next year's singfest and i really gave it some thought and my list includes

  • jamiroquai
  • jay-z
  • MIA (duh cos she's my hero)
  • oasis (missed them)
  • coldplay (whom i missed and am still beating myself up over it)
  • robbie williams (who broke my heart by not turning up)
  • depeche mode
  • radiohead (WOAH. i think people would just freak out)
  • oasis (who i ALSO missed and felt incredibly inadequate about my music cred after that)
  • scissor sisters (who're kickass live performers from the concert they showed on channel v)
  • the darkness (justin hawkins is a mad fker)
  • arctic monkeys (just cos they're one of my favourite bands. *waves to siv*)
  • RATM
  • RHCP (sundahh! we're on ah!)
  • U2
  • the strokes

this list is not exhaustive.

for singfest The Killers would be awesome, just like Char said. and KYLIE MINOGUE! though i dunno if she does festivals. paul macca! or razorlight- yeah they do festivals. kaiser chiefs too. kings of leon, who headlined at Glasto. mark ronson- OOH WEE that would be awesome. (midas productions i hope you're reading this for ideas *wink*)

speaking of singfest, coldplay and depeche mode, i was so caught up with singfest that i forgot to check youtube for the new Viva La Vida video. been checking wiki, coldplay.com and youtube since June in aniticipation of the vid. twas released on 1st august with 2 versions: one by hype williams (this version is lacklustre, doesn't do the song justice and sucks) and then there's the anton corbijn version. besides michel gondry and spike jonze, he's one of my favourite music video directors. him and coldplay teamed up to do an ode to Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence video (which is my fave video by them, and directed by anton too) and it still has the Little Prince theme going on, deck chair and all, except that chris martin portrays the ruler of the world he sings about in Viva La Vida and OHKAY i'll just stop talking already here's the vid

"beyonce in the wings" :D!

Wendy used to eye-roll jokingly whenever I pretended to sing the high notes on "Beautiful". Makes one feel a little wronged, since she is listening to Jonas Brothers now. YOUR CHEMICAL TUITION FRIEND.

Today at the petrol stn, radio overhead started playing Jamiroquai's "Little L" and I told my Dad a friend of mine likes this alot. And I realized, midway through the song, I like it too.
