day 2..and it seems to be getting better(who would've known)

it really doesn't feel like i've been in NY for only 2 days. the orientation prog has done SUCH a good job, that i feel as much as part of the school as any J2.

so this morning while we were chilling in the hall, there was an announcement made for all indians and malays to "step out of the hall". the way the OGL said it,i thought we were gonna kenah scolding or something. turns out we were just gonna have a lil meeting with our mother tongue HODs about our involvement in the respective cultural socities. its compulsory and by default that i'm in the ICS and apparently its supposed to be my first CCA(WHAT?!no way man!). so we met the ICS thalaivan and the resident tamil teacher and their speeches were so moving that iwas compelled to reconsider my subj combi and include tamil.seriously.it was that moving. about the plight of tamils in this God forsaken JC and how we as a minority really needed to prove our worth to gain respect.damn.bloody. manjan society. i really ddint wanna be reminded of all that..but it guess it was inevitable. like mr tamil teacher dude said(sorry i dunno his name), it was our birthright to be in ICS. and NYJC is apparently famous for puyal and all that so yes..we're pretty big league.i think. at least that's the impression i got. so yes hopefully i'll be meeting my fellow tamilians from the other JCs..catch up with old friends and make new ones too.

then we learnt the steps to the mass dance which is to jamelia's superstar.oh God.EXACT same song anderson used for one of our prev ACES days. when i first saw the vid for the dance on the council website i thought it was a combination of para para and wushu.the wushu part was defintely true. the moves turned out to be pretty complex actually..sot that para para bullshit i thought iwas. it was one of em guy girl partner dances.at this juncture i would like to bring up the fact that there are not one but THREE trackstar kinda guys in my OG.darcy, eric and weilun. all the trackstar dudes i met in my life turned out to be asses so it was really nice to know that these three were gentlemen. trackstar dudes refers to guys who are tall, well built, most of the time good looking, usually involved in some sport and oh you know how the rest of the stereotype works. the lovely thing was that they all weren't stoning and they ACTUALLY danced properly man. good on them :D not at all jocks,as they call them.

later we had to key in our desired subj combi stuff at the com labs.it would've made so much more sense to have had us do all this a long time ago so that we could settle in asap.but with so much time dedicated to orientation i guess they could afford to do that for our lot. and whats this thing about graphic calculators. $180??? wtf. even for H1 maths?! wahlao..

the last bit of the prog was dedicated to the various CCA leaders coming round and promoting their CCAs. i'm considering (in order of preference)
debate and journalism(that one was a no brainer), touch rugby(i promised myself that i would do a sport and since there isn't a girl's tennis team or golf team, this is something i''m defintely interested in), and dance(they apparently stopped doing contemporary dance and moved on to hip hop.goody. i think can lah, with my hip hop background.but the girl mentioned that they were gonna perform during the CCA open house to a song by BOA.er ok.big turn off. but i think i'll go see how cheena it is exactly before deciding).

somwhere along the way we had a series of water games.

tmr we're gonna spend the day in sentosa.hopefully we'll bump into MJC.
alright then.gnight
