Need to get this off my chest, NOW.
Nadal played exceptionally. I hate to say this but i gotta..the way he was playing, he deserved to win..
Federer was making way too many mistakes..even in the first game of the very first set. It was uncharacteristically nervous, just like Alan Wilkins pointed out. I've watched many a Federer match..especially the important ones, and I swear I've never ever seen him make this many missed first serves or unforced errors. In the 2nd set, he only got 36% of his first serves- wtf!
There were points where he just cracked and let Nadal get the better of him. I was absolutely gutted whenever that happened..especially when he actually hung his head after missed shots, during the 4th set. The commentator, can't rmb which one, pointed out that for the long-time Federer fans out there, to see him this crestfallen must be yknow.."oh man, why're you giving up?! Don't do this to me Roger :( "- well that was my reaction...
And then the 5th set came along, and Nadal was simply TOO GOOD for Fed. Wiped the floor with Roger aka PWNED him. It was a mix of disappointment at Roger and helplessness at Nadal's exceptional tennis..Wow Nadal is seriously superhuman. He must;ve been studying Roger's game. It's almost as if he anticipated some of Roger's shots and he knew how to force him to make mistakes.
At this point I gotta say watching grand slams has gotta be bad for my health. I'm already uptight and easily wound up, then I watch high stress, 5 set matches like this that send me over the bloody edge...wahh *shakes head*
The last set got to me BIG TIME. The good thing about watching it when your extended family is over and being among a number of Fed fans though, is that you're not the only one reacting violently (ie cursing and swearing/pulling out hair/ screaming "WHAAAT?!?")..but on the inside I was still dying..
And then Nadal won.
Roger went up on stage to get his trophy and speak.
Then he started faltering..I was like "PLEASE don't cry, please don't cry"
And then he cried...the worst I've ever seen him cry ;( He couldn't even say anything coherent other than that he'd have to try again later cos he was breaking down
My heart broke and I wanted to sob bitterly into my hands but AGH there were too many people there so I had to control :( Its the hardest thing I've had to do in a while..
What's worse is that he didn't stop tearing, even after Rafa gave his speech and they got off the podium to take photos..Oh man, Roger :( You will always be my favourite xoxo
The thing is, at this rate, as long as Nadal is around, there isn't a chance Roger is gonna get his 14th grand slam..but let us hope, that by some miracle he does, because he's the greatest thing I have ever seen in tennis in my generation
It would be frickin awesome if Federer won Nadal at Roland Garros though (ya right)
