There is nothing i need except the function to breathe, but i'm not really fussed, doesn't matter to me

for God's sake i hope they show the 2008 Brit Awards on channel v or summat. SERIOUSLY. i mean, if they showed the 07 one, they should show this year's one too innit?

Jeanetta, merci beaucoup mon cherie! for the bbc entertainment link about the winners at the awards show. i read alot of news sites at "work" but i forgot ALL about BBC. kill me just kill me. i lost a bit of anglophilic cred the day i forgot to check BBC News (but the reception for BBC World is quite clear from my desk.."music (and bbc news) (are) my boyfriend(s)".

Mika and Beth Ditto performed "Standing in the Way of Control"= i hope she didn't swallow him up whole or something.

Klaxons and Rihanna performed together. When i read that, i youtubed it automatically (most of the links have expired now, due to copyright claims. Boy, those companies act fast eh)..for a 'collaboration'. but it was more like an amateur mashup of Umbrella and Golden Skans with rihanna doing all the singing and Klaxons being backup singers WTF OK. they should've just done their own song without her lah..its the BRIT awards, not the chick from barbados awards..celebrate Great Britain for all its glory i say! PLUS THEY'RE MERCURY AWARD WINNERS OK. You see, the set..with its strobe lights, lasers and gargantuan fibreglass pyramid skeletal structure had Klaxons written all over it,with motifs from the "Its Not Over Yet"video repeated, for instance..and the outfits! so sci-fi/time machine/savage/we're gonna pull a Planet of the Apes on everyone; even Rihanna's! she looked like a jedi/twi-lek girl for Yoda's sake. So there, if the set was Klaxons and the background hook was Golden Skans, would you not expect them to sing too? BUT NO, she did all the singing eew. i was reading Sujin Thomas' column in mypaper on the way to "work" where he was talking about how music nowadays is just re-hashed and rihanna is a PERFECT example of this..almost every song she has released till date has sampled a killer hook be it off New Order (Shut Up & Drive), Soft Cell (SOS)or Michael Jackson (Please Dont Stop the Music). Klaxons on the other hand are far superior in terms of originality, freshness, critical appeal, ability to perform live and most importantly, how forward-looking their music is. But after saying all this, i hope their sophmore album is just as FKIN ACE as Myths From the Near Future.

rant complete.

Kylie performed Wow :D i watched that one too..í love that song! almost as much as i love In My Arms, but this one is just as shmexy..the intro please! that piano hook! and its just genius how she made a chorus out of the word Wow. i should SO go hear the rest of X lah..or sekali the 3 singles released were the best songs off the album already. but i doubt it.

The Kaisers played Ruby. Ricky Wilson looked quite dapper..complemented by the scruffy 3daysoldovergrownstubble and the tambourine-playing *squee* it was a set of miniature buildings moving up and down, and mini helicopters on the background screen, giving the illusion of the kaisers as kodzillas trudging through the city lol

Mark Ronson :D "I've never felt so male, or British in my entire life"..vat a line yaar. 2008 is the year that his genius has been acknowledged..first at the muthafkin GRAMMY's for Best Producer (how hardcore is that!) and now for Best Male Solo Artist..although he doesn't really song. he just comes up with completely, utterly RAD music. YAY MARK. he did a medley set with Adele, Daniel Merriweather and Miss Winehouse woohoo! finally a performance of Valerie with BOTH mark and amy on stage. from the reedy kid on the decks in the Ooh Wee video with Ghostface Killa (lol what a moniker) to getting props from Kanye at the Grammys. i'm beaming..how else do i elucidate?

But my highlight of the show, and what i have to see on the telly and not on a miserably small youtube screen is MACCA singing Dance Tonight, Live and Let Die (only my favourite Wings song) AND Hey Jude :D :D (or Hey Jax as i prefer to call it) Paul Mccartney is PWNAGE McPWNAGE.

as for the winners, Arctic Monkeys, TAKE THAT and Kylie (whose award was presented by Doctor Who :D ) are among those i was rooting for. Mika won best breakthrough, Su!

sigh. it feels good to post again.
