today they showed the iconic MTV Unplugged set by Nirvana on the telly. oh my GOD. i don't remember if they've ever showed it on telly before but i know i've watched it before (in my youth :P) their cover of Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World is even better than the original in my notsohumble opinion. and i'll never forget the lilies and candles decorating the stage. i believe it was then and there that i decided that lilies were my favourite flowers (stargazer lilies in white to be precise)

well yeah nirvana aren't americana (that's more Allman Brothers. their song Jessica is what the Top Gear theme tune is based on shara- if you come here anymore) but they're the ones who singlehandedly intro-ed grunge to the world, and if that isn't "american revolutionary/americana-ish" i dunno what is
