will the real Sachin please stand up?

"sachin the scab" caught on so fast, wan leng was practically referring to him as a real person..

"Anjali! be careful of sachin can?" :D LOL!

i think its time i did a proper post on 'the little man' himself. possibly my favourite cricketer..i say possibly cos i'm not as half as well informed as i'd like to be about the international cricket scene and its players. this is like, being a david beckham fangirl cos well, he's the most famous footballer around and his is the only name you know...so you blindly and ignorantly support him :P
but anyways,

D! he's sponsored by MRF..that's why the bat had "Sachin's Choice" plastered on it :) and MRF= Madras Rubber Factory. reprezentin the southies yo! and another one for D: he's ambidextrous...writes with his left hand but bats with his right..kinda like you babe!

this is a pretty old issue of Time but hell, he made the cover and not many people get that far. truly an Asian hero.

and just to illustrate how intense international (guys) cricket is:

Modern technology has computed the reaction time a batsman has. The
faster deliveries give the batsman between half and three-quarters of a second
to respond. This responding business is not as simple as it sounds when you
consider that, more likely than not, the bowler is an extremely strong, lithe
man who has taken a run-up of 36 meters to build up velocity for his projectile,
which is a hard, small, cricket ball that weighs around 140 grams. The ball
leaves the bowler's hand at the apogee of a leap and a full swing of the arm,
and travels the distance of the pitch—20 yards—at a speed sometimes close to 160
km/h. To further complicate matters, as it comes at you the ball hits the ground
and changes direction to torpedo toward the most precious parts of your body.
The only weapon against this assault is a bat made of willow.

and yet another MRF-sponsored massive superstar in the cricketing world Senor Brian Lara

and MRF, if you're reading this, i'd like some payment for the blatant advertising *wink*
