the crownless again shall be king

more NZ love coming right up. and mostly cos i was watching The Return Of The King "Platinum Series Special Extended Edition" DVD edition instead of doing something productive like math/chem homework (charlene i can't find DDB's homework on moodle laaah!)

the box set it superduper special edition.. since it was purchased in NZ itself..along with Robbie Williams greatest hits (G! i promise a robbie post soon!) and it has FOUR cds. the main movie has 50 minutes of never-before-seen footage among otherspecial features which can be viewed at Amazon.

ok anyways, its was a much needed refresher course in middle earth since i've kinda been neglecting it since the hype hath runneth over. then last night while clearing my trainwreck of a desk, i saw the 12 inch figurine of the Witchking Ringwraith that i got for my birthday when i was 14 (i chose it over Legolas cos well..he looked too gay :\ and over Eowyn, cos she's a pushover rebound girl. they ran out of Galadriel..if not i would've gotten her. and i dont think they even made Aragorn/Arwen versions..or that would've been a no-brainer). and since i'd watched all the movies in my hindi stockpile and The Matriix didn't look particularly appealing, LOTR: ROTK it was.

boy oh boy have i been missing out! mithrandir, palantir, minas tirith, osgiliath, corsairs of umbar, shelob, Haradrim (as usual the bad guys are the darker skinned ones...sighhh), mumakil..oh you know, THE WORKS. it all seems strangely foreign now, sadly enough.
so let's get on with the LOTR related NZ pics

a heavily tuned picture (which retains the main elements nonetheless) This one's in tribute to the tree of gondor which is supposed to look like THIS:

but in the movie, it don't look nothing like that. but oh well...anyways coming back to the picture on top. That was taken in Dunedin and i just loveed how eerie the trees looked..and this was in broad daylight! click to enlarge then hopefull you can see the higlights where the sunlight fell on the bark, which is this powder grayish colour, much like silver birches.

moving on to an actual filming location in a spot so ulu, the drive in took half an hour and there was absolutely no other human life in sight. Glenorchy, Queenstown to be exact.

ISEN-f***ing-GARD(isengard, excuse the expletives). can ya see it? *excited* if the foggy stuff was gone it would've been loads clearer but with the magicking of tech wizardry, whole sheep pastures can disappear and Orthanc can be added in :D

and now for some that i just love: this one was taken from the window of a vineyard cafe overlooking the ocean at kaikoura. just for the record, this picture was not altered at all.

THAT's how intensely beautiful the blues of the water were. they say that Kerala is God's own country, but i beg to differ... :)

NZ is also known as the land of the long white cloud. hell yes it is! case in point:

fluffy marshmallow goodness i say!

burn baby burn (disco inferno style) heavily heavily tuned pic yes, but must be dramatik once in a while lah! click to enlarge to see em nitty gritty details..

i imagine this was the colour of the sky when the black army of Barad-dur broke loose upon osgiliath and minas tirith. as Legolas would've said, "a red sun rises..blood has been spilled this night" (can you say: fangirl!! but i still stand by the fact that he was as faggoty as elves get in the movies. but i ain't got no smack talk on his archery skillzzzzzz yo! :D )

and finally a rather creepy one of trees with fingerlike branches reaching towards the light

this was on the way to Mitre Peak in Milford Sound, one of the most photgraphed land formations in NZ.

SHADOWFAX!!!

ok not really..but close enough, no? teehee.
right, that as is all i can muster for now.
in reference to pippin,

Aragorn: One thing i've learnt about Hobbits: They're a hardy folk

Merry: Foolhardy maybe! He's a Took! :D :D :D
