i got my PC! *does a lil jig*

i just read on karthik's blog that he's going for the oasis concert next year. FAR OUT!

first off i thought i'd mention that i'm going for the backstreet boys "never gone" concert when they come here on jan 24 next year.can't believe i have'n't blogged about it yet(!) and its gonna be lame cos evryone has seats :P haha, but i'm sure the gajillion or so girls won't be seated when the concert actually begins.

yes yes BSB isn't as COOL as Oasis is but still!

BSB had better bloody come man! you know how bloody long i've been waiting for them to bloody come!! and the last time they were supposed to come they bloody cancelled!WTH! so yes..let's all pray that they make it to the indoor stadium and give singapore one helluva concert. wellactually, i dont expect much, now that they're a bunch of geezers and should be called backstreet men instead. its not like they're gonna have the moves that they did 5 years ago. but of course i must respect my first ever favourite band and say lovely things about them.

honestly, i didnt buy their most recent album "never gone" cos well, i'd moved on to better music during their 5 year hiatus.but since they're performing 10 songs off that album, i guess i'd better give em a listen at least.they're doing ALL of their greatest hits so that'll be something to look forward to.

going with my cousin sis Prema who was my first fellow bsb fan back in the day.got pretty good seats . sitting right in the middle, in the seats closest to where the ground floor tier of the stadium is.all seats on that particular tier have been booked up by MTV and the official fan club and all. so yeah. at 160 quid its more than i would like to pay but its prob one of the last concerts bsb is gonna have(touch wood). we all know its coming lah..the END of bsb. might as well accept it.

i can't remembe rhow much i paid for my linkin park concert tix but that was probably one of the top 10 experiences in my life. could have a whole post about it but here are some highlights:

  • went THREE hours in advance and there were already long queues all round the padang
  • went with the best rock concert kakis one could ask for
  • got the best standing spot..right at the railing!
  • screamed until my lungs were sore, literally
  • being in a mosh pit is exhilarating
  • got interviewd by asha popatlal
  • almost got winded(knocked out) when the crowd of 15000 jumped in unison to Faint
  • sang along to every lyric
  • boo-ed at the opening act(i really shouldnt have done that)
  • shared cups of water with absolute strangers cos ppl were getting dehydrated the
  • marshalls(is that what they call them) were splashing buckets and buckets of water on all of us

ok coming back to the main point of this post.my PC or profficienct cert.thats what you have to aim to get when you start golf cos thats what allows you to set foot on the course. so all this while, i was just at the orchid country club driving range hitting hundreds of balls off Astroturf and a rubber tee. and that''s nothing like ACTUALLY hitting a golf ball off the grass.

hadn't set foot on an actual golf course until today(for my PC test) and to quote roonil wazlib, it was BLOODY BRILLIANT!

i wasn't very good at the first two holes.actually iwas absolute rubbish. shan't go into details cos its plain embarrassing. but i did make a helluva beautiful chip,on hole 2, if i say so myself.i dunno if it was lucky or what; but it was sweetness. and i got into a bunker just once at hole 4, and almost hit a komodo dragon basking in the sun.pft. but i managed to get out of it with a clean shot and sent just the right amount of sand flying. i was like, thank you GOD! but other than these two shots and a 100 yard drive on hole 4, the rest of my shots were vomit. haha.i put all the good bits first to make myself feel better.i knew that my swing was all wrong cos i came home with my stupid wrist problem that happens whenever i'm not doing it right.

the theory test was a breeze.oh cmon i did the o levels.how hard could an open book test on the rules of golf be? when i take the handicap test though, it'll be a lot stricter and the tester will be looking out for etiquette. yeah i guess iwas pretty proper on the course today..filled up divots with greenish fertilizer sand, didnt drive too fast in the buggy(whenever i DID manage to steal the wheel from my bro who was so adamant about driving the damn buggy cos it was so much fun), didn't talk when others were taking shots, let the furthest from the hole play first(that was me most of the time :P), didn't step in anybody's putting line(like vivek did to me 3 times today..>_<) and blah blah the list goes on.rules rules rules.

but luke really cut me some major slack and its thanks to him i passed. i was supposed to hit within 28 strokes over 4 holes.i think i hit like 29(?) yeah.more or less.i was still cutting it close. he told the marshall that i hit 18(bless him :D) haha.

i can't believe i was so frickin worried last night that i couldn't sleep and ended up reading "golf for dummies" to try and get some last minute tips.ended up forgetting half the things i reminded myself to remember. maybe its cos i read "the horse and his boy" aka narnia book 3 immediately after that. there was one tip that i sorta recalled though, about humming a tune to yourself to remember the rhythm of your swing. i chose "breakdown" by jack johnson and it actually helped...but only while iwas at the range.

i was shaking so bad at the driving range after i finished my 50 balls this morning all the way up til; the bag drop under the OCC clubhouse. but i think it was the pandan cake that luke offered me that calmed my nerves. he bought it from a lady in a golf buggy selling drinks at the intersection of the aranda and vanda courses. i didn't know there were such things. you see how wonderful experiential learning is! but the PC is only the first step.there's still lots more to do..until i get my handicap score. oh gosh don't meake me explain waht a handicap is.go wikipedia it or something. i'm just thankful that i managed to get my PC after 1 month of golf and just before 2005 ended.ok enough about golf.

but before i end off about golf i just wanna say that golf IS a bloody sport cos you actually work muscles you never knew you had before.and you work up a sweat, even at the driving range..after you've hit a substantial amount of balls of course. and its even more of a sport at the courses where you're not allowed to use buggies and you have to actually WALK the length of the 18 holes. the bag has 14 clubs and that together with all the other rubbish you gotta carry like spare balls and an umbrella makes for a pretty good workout when you're lugging the thing around.

and i've used the word bloody too many times throughout this post.

yeah so i was talking to jia wei just now and she asked, "isn't blogging draining?''.and i ended up likening blogging to adding a memory to the pensieve like dumbledore. expelling memories in a medium that i can check back on anytime.a blog's absolutely perfect for that.yes blog=modern day pensieve.

alright then enough rambling.
