Gosh i love that song by mcfly. the vid was heart wrenching i tell you. they visited an african village in support of Comic relief's red nose project.
Comic Relief is about having fun and making the world a better place.
The organisation raises money and then uses it to help end poverty and unfairness.
It works in the UK and also in the poorest countries in the world. Here's what it does:
- Gets money in: Raises money from the public in the UK by getting them involved in fun special events.
- Shares money out: Does a lot of research to find out which charities to support and then carefully decides how best to spend the money the public donated.
- Educates people: Explains the causes of poverty in Africa and problems faced by groups and communities in the UK. Also lets people in the UK know how they can change things for the better.
and you heard it here first unless you've heard it before.
if you have read my blog before, you've probably heard me mention M.I.A aka Maya Arulpragasam who's this underground artist from the UK(originally from Sri Lanka.she's sri lankan Tamil. WOOHOO! finally a fellow tamilian in the industry. her dad was a tamil tiger. she moved to the UK when she was 11i think. sorry if i got the details all botched up) She's got the looks of a bollywood actress and an eccentricity all of her own. she's this brilliant graf artist too. dude, she has this wallpaper on her website that has graf in TAMIL. whao! tres cool. as for her music, it needs a bit of getting used to. she has these totally sick beats. they're so raw, unadultered and fresh. "london cool-ah, speak da slang-ah/ boys say wha-wha/ girls say Wha-wha"
haha..thats the opening verse of Galang which i first heard on Adil Ray. but the version on the adil ray show was a bootleg by Sunit, so its been mashed up with this song from the classic amitabh bachan film "Sholay".

"from congo to colombo/dont stereotype my thing yo/ i salt and pepper my mango" thats a line from Sunshowers the video for which she filmed in south india. her music also has a lot of political messages.
once again, you heard it here first unless you've heard it before
so while i was at her record company's website, i stumbled upon an affiliate company's link. the cmpany's name, being maharishi, immediately lured me in wit its indian-ess. i'm a sucka for all things indian.
turns out that maharishi is a cult clothing brand from the UK and their current season is based around disruptive pattern material which is an alternative name for camouflage(how cool is that). their signature product is ohshitiforgotthename. they're basically ski pants, haha. they've even collabo-ed with Gravis!!
