all credit goes to jeanette for finding this vid (ages ago might i add ;) ) which i just HAD to post.
what a waster. not.
especially cos one of the comments on youtube was, and i'm quoting here, said:
"This is Pete Doherty before....
HE BECAME A WANKER!!"
oh come on lads.. he isn't all THAT bad! i just hope he gets out of the clink in time for glasto :\
and personally, i don't think Jay Z should headline glastonbury 08 either. that's about as bad as holding the worldwide festival in singapore, but getting dolly parton to headline. firstly, i think its GREATT that wwf is coming here and secondly, the dolly p ref is there cos i was watching Dancing With the Stars on BBC Prime where she was the special guest, and i wanted to throttle the tv cos i'm so over Yee-haw and Backwoods Barbie. fk off dolly, srsly.
so, MUCH RESPEKT for j-hova who i'm as much of a kowtow fan as i am of Muse, Jamiroquai etc, but glasto IS about rock, indie and dance music and not about straight up gangsta rap/hip hop. what exacerbates the situation even more is that he's a yank and glasto is traditionally headlined by the brits and/or fellow europeans. its just sounds and feels wrong that he has headline status.
but what do i know eh? i'm just a bitter, angsty teenager stuck on this island.
(fear not anjax! Gilles Peterson -and diplo- to the rescueeee)
back to pete.
anyone who describes noel gallagher as a poet and liam as a town crier, while making reference to Umberto Eco (wtf, i saw something about him on the discovery channel the other day) and when asked to sum up Oasis in a word says, wait for it....'trousers', in the most matter-of-fact way... is MY HERO OK. ok hero is a bit strong, but you get the idea...don't you? *grin*
oh pete.
i was watching his interview on Jonathan Ross (ok here i have to interject. BBC Prime Singapore. if you can show the Catherine Tate and Graham Norton shows, why not add Jonathan Ross to the mix! we are missing out on quality tv here! and again, i wish you'd get a move on with showing Doctor Who Series 3 already, hrmph. ) and he said this gem of a line about him and Carl Barat (who isn't julian barratts brother *wink in netta's direction*)
"yeah we were best mates, and we loved each other, and we loved what we did and we were fiercely proud, and we took it right to the end...or maybe not *shrug* i dunno"
aaaw bless! *heart breaks into a million little pieces* dear pete and carl, please reunite. your music was bliss
Have we enough to keep it together?
Or do we just keep on pretending
And hope our luck is never ending
You tried to pull the wool,
I wasn't feeling too clever
And you take all that they're lending
Until you needed mending...
