Chatsworth House in the Peak District is where they filmed bits of the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice which is saved only by the unexpected hotness that is Matthew MacFayden and his gloriously blue eyes. Keira Knightley sucks i dont care. she should just stop pouting so much then maybe i'd not hate her so much. lucky biotch.
okok coming back to Chatsworth (focus anjali, focus)
basically, Chatsworth= Pemberley. all the P&P ppl in the house say "Ho!" *cups hand to ear hoping to hear response* Sprawling grounds, stunning STUNNING supersized mansion and rooms rooms and more rooms full of all sorts of treasures.
the very first hall we entered had this painted on the ceilings. the vividness of the colour and detailing was stunning. and this is in a __-hundred year old building..the paintings were restored i think, but who cares! unimitable beauty
ok i'm lost for words now. i don't know what else to say about the house :(
but yeah, here's the good bit.
the very last room we were led into was one that was full of white marble statues..of Apollo and Mars and Achilles and some random discuss throwing olympian dude and many more of course. yes, the exact place Lizzy Bennet and the Gardiners walked through as they were shown round Pemberley by the housekeeper.
STAR ATTRACTION!!!!!
bust of Darcy *squeeeeee* can you not see the star-struckedness on my grinny face? you see how happy england makes me feel?!
and then there was this masterpiece of a lifesized sleeping lion. every sinew and hair perfectly captured in marble. its almost as if medusa looked upon mr sleepy here and turned him to stone. uhh..SO beautiful.
