the meaning of my name

Anjali is an indian mudra that means 'offering'. Mudras, ritual postures of the hands, are used to evoke in the mind ideas that symbolise divine energy in order to intensify the devotees concentration.

Anjali is a mudra in which the two hands extended upwards are held palm to palm as in prayer form .
  • it is a symbol of unity where the 2 opposites; the left and the right, the black and the white, the male and the female, the yin and the yang etc i.e the whole dichotomous universe-comes together as one.
  • this union occurs over the heart centre
  • the hands form a shape of a diamond. with the "two worlds" joined, the resulting union is seen as symbolic of the eternal, indistructable truth that is Dharma.
